Meet Jeremy, Your Next Podcast Guest

Ok, sorry, that was a little presumptuous, can I try that again?

*Ahem*

Hey there! My name is Jeremy Enns and I’d be absolutely honoured to be a guest on your show.

I run Counterweight Creative, a podcast production & marketing agency helping health & wellness experts leverage podcasting to become the authorities in their spaces.

I’ve hosted several podcasts of my own over the years (including one about ice cream) and write a daily blog about building an audience around work that matters.

Also, I created a course about podcast guesting, so I kinda have a lot on the line if this interview doesn’t live up to the hype…

Boring Interviews Are the Worst Amirite?

Duh.

That’s why I decided to pre-emptively dig up all the dirt on me and give you this 2-minute version of my life story.

I Like to Talk About Podcasting, Marketing & Creativity

Although I’m an introvert, be forewarned: If you get me talking on certain topics I might never shut up.

After 4 hours of waiting for a break to interject and change the topic, you’ll give up, turn off the lights, leave the room and come back later, hoping I’ve exhausted my vocal chords and hung up.

To avoid that awkward scenario, avoid bringing up:
  • Star Wars
  • Ice cream
  • Long-distance bicycle touring
  • The 2006 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Playoff run
  • Audio nerdery (this will make sense as you keep reading..)

Instead, we can talk about things like:
  • Podcast launch & growth strategy
  • Building an audience around your work
  • Building a team with a thriving culture
  • Starting and growing a service-based business
  • The importance of establishing systems as you grow your business
  • The ability & responsibility for businesses to create positive change in the world beyond the actual work they do.

This Might Be The Best-Sounding Episode EVER.

I’m actually a trained sound engineer and worked in the same studio where Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motley Crüe, Aerosmith, Van Halen, and of course, the Goose Creek Symphony Orchestra recorded in the ’80s and ’90s.

I also created a course on how to record professional podcast audio at home. So again, kinda a lot on the line for me…

I use the Shure SM7B, the same mic that Michael Jackson used to record Thriller. Cool, right?

Then I plug that mic into my Golden Age Project PRE73 pre-amp, which, according to their website, gives my voice a “warm, punchy, sweet and musical character,” that has been “heard on countless recordings through the years.”

From there, I plug into a MOTU 828 mk3 audio interface that preserves the juicy analog tone as it digitizes it so it can make its way through the internet to your ears.

Have I lost you yet? Sorry I’ll quit the nerd speak. Now you see why you might want to avoid getting me on the topic of audio nerdery…

Oh, and I always follow my own podcast guesting guidelines including wearing headphones and recording my own audio locally, so it’s going to sound LEGIT.

Guh, it’s the worst.

Don’t worry, I know your pain and will promote your episode on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and my weekly Listen Up newsletter.
